We thought since the "Banzai Speed Metal swirl" is so commonly seen on Speed Clothes merch and print materials, that we would point out its history for those die-hard maniacs who know what's this all about and for those who aren't familiar, either way, this is for you:
Originally designed by a graphic designer that worked for Polygram records, the swirl was used on several Banzai Records (Canada) releases, including bands like Celtic Frost, Destruction, Warrant, Iron Angel, and even Cryptic Slaughter.
The logo was a symbol given to music that was faster and harder, despite the variances in the genre. The Speed Metal Swirl was placed on either the front, back, or both sides of the LP. The symbol didn't make it on all "extra fast and hard" Banzai releases from the same period, which contributes to the bit of mystery surrounding it!
We adopted this logo with total respect as a symbol of worship to all those bands that once upon a time were the heaviest, most aggressive and rad around the corner. This is a truthful sense of devotion for metal and Banzai from our side.
